Allergies can impact what you eat, how you breathe, or the products you use. When allergies combine with severe respiratory issues, it is called allergic asthma. It is a condition when your airway tightens when you inhale allergens like pollen, dander, dust mites, or mold spores. The allergens trigger asthma symptoms.

It is the most common type of asthma. The symptoms of allergic asthma are like that of asthma.

Symptoms

  • Shortness of breath.
  • Coughing frequently, especially at night
  • Wheezing
  • Chest tightness
  • Stuffy nose
  • Itchy or runny eyes
  • Sneezing
  • Rashes and hives

Causes

Inhaling these allergens can set off symptoms.

Treatment

There is no cure or prevention for allergic asthma. However, it can be effectively controlled or managed. It is a condition that people experience throughout their lives.

You need to find out the allergens that trigger symptoms to manage the condition. Doctors conduct allergy tests or skin tests to find the allergens that cause the reaction. You must either avoid or manage these allergens. Asthma symptoms are controlled with medicines.

Consult your doctor at Amrita Hospitals for a detailed medical examination and treatment.
