Aiming to improve healthcare access for tribal communities, Amrita Hospital has launched the 'Samashwasam' Telemedicine Project. 

The project, initially implemented in Valliyoorkkavu, Wayanad district, aims to identify and treat chronic respiratory diseases, detect and manage tuberculosis (TB) recurrence, provide tele-pulmonary rehabilitation and offer tobacco cessation counseling in remote tribal areas across the state where modern healthcare facilities are limited. 

The project, led by Dr. Akhilesh K, Professor of Respiratory Medicine, was officially inaugurated by Dr. D.M. Vasudevan, Director of Health Science Research and Head of the Department of Telemedicine, Amrita Hospital, Kochi. Brahmacharini Deekshitamrita Chaitanya, Dr. K.V. Beena, Additional Medical Superintendent, Dr. C. Sreekumar, Dr. Anand Kumar, Dr. Sibi Gopinath and  Dr. Vivek Nambiar spoke on the importance of this project in tribal areas.
