The Department of Clinical Haematology and the Blood Diseases Centre of Amrita Hospital, Kochi recently organized a two-day training class in clinical haematology titled "Praveshika". This initial training course was designed for doctors undergoing MD and DNB training in the departments of Paediatrics, General Medicine, Pathology, and Transfusion Medicine.

The training class was inaugurated by Dr. Prem Nair, Group Medical Director, Amrita Hospitals, he emphasized the importance of such programs in enhancing medical expertise in haematology.

The course focused on Benign Haematology, featuring authentic case-based discussions on anaemia, thrombocytopenia, and bleeding disorders. Participants also engaged in practical lab training, a blood bank visit, and took part in quizzes and debates. In addition to benign haematology, the class included interactive sessions on Malignant Haematology, providing valuable insights into the diagnosis and treatment of blood cancers.

Dr. Neeraj Siddharthan, Professor, Haematology; Dr. Reema Miria Abraham, Assistant Professor, Hematopathology; Dr. Veena Shenoy, Additional Professor, Transfusion Medicine; Dr. Vidya Jha, Cytogenetics Lab, and Dr. Sachin David, Assistant Professor, Molecular Biology Lab, led the sessions, offering their expert knowledge and guidance throughout the training.

This initiative aims to equip healthcare professionals with in-depth knowledge and practical experience, furthering Amrita Hospital’s commitment to enhancing clinical expertise in haematology and improving patient care.
