Amrita Hospital, Kochi, relocated its Geriatrics Outpatient Department (OPD) to a newly renovated space on the Ground Floor of B-Block. The newly relocated department offers a comprehensive range of services tailored to the unique needs of senior citizens. Patients will receive interdisciplinary assessments and personalized medical treatments that account for their age, medical conditions, and personal input. The department emphasizes preventive care, offering lifestyle advice on diet and exercise, which contributes to long-term health and well-being.
Specialty clinics, such as the Dementia Clinic (held every Tuesday) and the Falls and Osteoporosis Clinic (held every Thursday), are also part of the newly relocated department, providing further support to elderly patients.
A key feature of the department is its focus on supporting the elderly and their families. Counselling services for family members and caregivers are available, offering guidance on managing elderly care and assisting with decision-making. The department also offers specialized services, including subspecialty referrals and comprehensive inpatient care for patients requiring more intensive treatment.
To mark the occasion of the new OPD, Ganapathi Homam, followed by a Lamp Lighting Ceremony, was held. The ceremony was led by Dr. Rahana C. Mukundan, General Manager of Patient Services & Administration, with the pooja conducted by Swamini Karunamrita Prana. The event was attended by doctors, staff, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the occasion and the hospital’s continued commitment to elderly care.
