Honorable Governor of Kerala, Arif Mohammed Khan, inaugurated the Amrita Regenerative Pain Medicine & Wellness Clinic and Support Group at Amrita Hospital. In his address, the Governor highlighted the ancient and persistent nature of pain as a human affliction and underscored the importance of palliative care within the framework of India’s National Health Policy.
The inauguration ceremony also marked the launch of the Amrita Annual Review in Palliative Medicine program. This initiative is designed to provide continuing medical education for healthcare professionals and offer comprehensive support to patients experiencing chronic pain.
Commending Amrita’s contributions to healthcare innovation, the Governor praised the institution’s holistic approach, emphasizing the principle of "karma is worship" as practiced by Amrita. He echoed the vision of Mata Amritanandamayi, who advocates for an educational ethos that transcends mere livelihood. Governor Khan further recognized Amrita’s leadership in health research, a position strengthened by interdisciplinary collaboration and significant advancements in addressing the growing needs of Kerala’s aging population and those with genetic disorders.
Swami Anaghamritananda Puri, Senior Medical Administrator; Dr. Prathapan Nair, P.N. Menon, Additional Medical Superintendent; Dr. K.V. Beena, Senior Medical Administrator; Dr. Ajoy Menon; Dr. Wesley M. Jose, Professor of Medical Oncology; and Dr. Shobha Nair, Head of the Department of Pain and Palliative Medicine, also spoke at the event, sharing their insights on the clinic's vision and goals.
The newly launched Regenerative Pain Medicine & Wellness Clinic now operates under the Pain and Palliative Medicine Department at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, further enhancing the institution’s comprehensive care offerings.
