A three-day workshop on Maxillofacial Prosthodontics has commenced at Amrita Hospital, Kochi. Inaugurated by Dr. Prem Nair, Medical Director of the Amrita Hospitals Group, the event focuses on cutting-edge techniques for reconstructing facial structures affected by cancer. Celebrating two decades of excellence in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics, this hands-on workshop aims to enhance expertise in facial reconstruction and patient care.
On the second day of the Amrita MaxFac 2024 workshop at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, participants engaged in "VISIONSCULPT," a hands-on session focused on the intricate process of creating eye prostheses. The final day featured a comprehensive hands-on session on "Deflasking, Extrinsic Staining, and Finishing of Silicone Orbital Prostheses." Participants delved into the intricate techniques required for the final stages of creating orbital prosthetics, learning how to achieve realistic aesthetics and precise finishing touches for patients who require facial reconstruction. The workshop concluded with a focus on delivering functional and lifelike silicone prostheses to improve patient quality of life.
Speakers at the workshop include Dr. P.L. Roopesh, President of the Kerala Chapter of the Indian Prosthodontic Society; Dr. Subramania Iyer,, Chairman of the Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Department; Dr. K. Narayanan Unni, Chairman of the Amrita School of Dentistry; Dr. Balagopal Varma, Principal; Dr. S. Rakesh, Vice Principal; and Dr. Manju Vijayamohan, Head of the Prosthodontics Department.
Dr. Satyabodh S. Guttal, Professor at SDM College of Dentistry in Dharwad, and Dr. Sandeep Gurav, Professor at Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, along with Dr. P.C. Jacob, Dr. Arjun Krishnadas, Dr. Pramod Subhash, and Dr. Vinod P. Nair from Amrita, are leading the sessions.
