Amrita Hospital, Kochi, in collaboration with the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), has commenced a five-day training workshop on Complete Decongestive Therapy as part of research project aimed at developing and demonstrating a community-based model for morbidity management, disability prevention and rehabilitation of filariasis patients. The program was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Dr K.N. Panicker (Principal Investigator), Dr Subramaniam Iyer (Co-Principal Investigator) and Dr Aswathy S. (Head of Department, Community Medicine), Department of Community Medicine. Under the guidance of experts in the field, this workshop aims to equip nurses with the skills necessary to provide complete decongestive therapy in clinics and guide patients to manage lymphedema effectively at their homes. The launch of clinics in Cherthala is intended to improve the quality of life and overall well-being of individuals affected by filariasis.
