Overview
Since its inception in 2004, the Cancer Registry at Amrita Hospital has been recognized as the first Hospital Cancer Registry organized within a Medical College Hospital in the NGO sector. This registry operates as a comprehensive and specialized database system that plays a crucial role in collecting, recording, and analyzing cancer cases seen at the hospital. It gathers extensive data on cancer patients, including patient demographics, tumor characteristics, diagnostic procedures, treatments, and outcomes. The registry prioritises data accuracy and confidentiality with trained personnel ensuring completeness and quality. These data will contribute to cancer surveillance efforts and provide valuable insights into local cancer incidence, trends, and outcomes. It also serves as a valuable resource for research, allowing for in-depth analysis of treatment outcomes and factors affecting cancer rates. The registry aids in quality improvement by evaluating care outcomes, monitoring adherence to guidelines, and identifying areas of enhancement.
