On the occasion of World Cancer Day, Amrita Hospital, Kochi, launched its Onco Rehabilitation Clinic, Preventive Oncology Clinic, Digital Cancer registry, and an Amritham Art Gallery for cancer survivors.
Renowned movie star Urmila Unni inaugurated the Preventive Oncology Clinic, designed to focus on early cancer detection and disease prevention and unveiled its logo during the event held at the hospital.
The Onco Rehabilitation Clinic is significant initiative aimed at helping cancer patients regain a normal life routine. This state-of-the-art clinic is one of the few of its kind in Kerala, underscoring Amrita Hospital’s commitment to comprehensive cancer care.
Dr. Anand Raja, addressing the event, emphasized the holistic approach of the Onco Rehabilitation Clinic. “Cancer affects not only the body but also the mind. The emotional and psychological challenges faced by patients upon diagnosis are immense. This clinic aims to ensure both physical and mental well-being through comprehensive treatment plans,” he stated.
Digital Cancer Registry and Amritham Art Gallery Inauguration
The event also marked the inauguration of a Digital Cancer Registry by Dr. Prashanth Madhur, Director of ICMR, to streamline cancer data management and research. Author and actress Shirley Somasundaram inaugurated the Amritham Art Gallery, a space designed to inspire healing through artistic expression. The gallery exhibits the art works of cancer survivors. An online painting competition was also organised and the price distribution was held during the event.
The event featured prominent healthcare leaders, including Amrita Hospital Group Medical Director Dr. Prem Nair, Additional Medical Superintendent Dr. K.V., and Head of the Medical Oncology Department Dr. K. Pavithran. Other notable speakers included Dr. Priya Bhatti, Dr. D.K. Vijayakumar, Dr. Rashmi, and several other experts in oncology.
A panel discussion on 'Preventive Oncology' saw participation from leading specialists such as Dr. Deb Narayan Dutta, Dr. Vijayakumar, Dr. Priya Nair, Dr. Lakshmi, Dr. Nikhil K.H., and Dr. Rakesh M.
