The Advanced Interventional Pulmonology Unit at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, made waves as it welcomed back its highly-anticipated annual event, the 3rd Annual Conference of Amrita Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology (ABIP 2023), held on September 16th and 17th, 2023. With Day 1 held at the Amrita Hospital campus and Day 2 gracing the prestigious Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre and Grand Hyatt Kochi, ABIP 2023 left an indelible mark on the world of Interventional Pulmonology.
Organized by the esteemed Advanced Interventional Pulmonology Unit at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, the Annual Conference of Amrita Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology (ABIP) stands as a beacon in the field. It attracted luminaries from across the globe, fostering the exchange of knowledge and sharing invaluable experiences, thus pushing the boundaries of understanding in respiratory diseases and their therapeutic approaches.
"Under the theme 'The Rise & Future of Interventional Pulmonology,' ABIP 2023 shone a spotlight on the latest advancements in this dynamic field. After a three-year hiatus due to COVID-19 challenges, ABIP 2023 returned with renewed enthusiasm," mentioned Dr. Tinku Joseph, Head of Interventional Pulmonology. This gathering spotlighted the significance of Interventional Pulmonology in enabling early, accurate diagnosis of lung diseases, particularly crucial for lung cancer. The procedures showcased less invasive alternatives, like outpatient chest lymph node biopsy using an EBUS machine.
This two-day symposium offered a diverse program. Day 1 was dedicated to focused training programs (FTP), offering attendees hands-on experience in various aspects of Interventional Pulmonology. These comprehensive sessions covered a wide spectrum of topics, including Rigid Bronchoscopy & Airway Stenting, ERBE Cryo & Electrosurgery, Linear EBUS & EUS-B, Radial EBUS, Navigation Bronchoscopy, Thoracoscopy, IPC, and USG Chest.
Day 2 featured an intellectually stimulating scientific program, with sessions on Obstructive Airway Diseases, Peripheral Pulmonary Nodules, Airway Obstruction, IP vs. Surgery case discussions, Airway Catastrophes, Lung Cancer, Innovations in IP, Interstitial Lung Disease, and Pleural Diseases. Distinguished international and national faculty members enriched the program with their insights through didactic lectures, live case demonstrations, and interactive discussions.
In addition to these enlightening sessions, over 30 exhibitors showcased cutting-edge products, including exciting launches of new Bronchoscopes and IP-related innovations.
