Dr. Rajesh R. Nair is the Professor and Head of Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation Services at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. He is a clinical nephrologist with special interest in chronic kidney disease, kidney transplantation, transplant immunology, research and management. He is one of the leading members of the pioneering team who was instrumental in starting deceased organ transplantation in the state.
He has eighteen years of teaching experience in Nephrology and is a member of Indian and International Society of Nephrology, European Dialysis and Transplant Association as well as American Society of Nephrology.
He has served as executive committee member of Indian Society of Nephrology Southern Chapter. He has given invited lectures in various academic forums, has published several papers in national and international journals and has authored chapters in text books. He is a regular peer reviewer of manuscripts of Indian Journal of Nephrology.
He was recently awarded Fellowships from Royal College of Physicians London and Edinburgh.
Ongoing research projects include stem cell transplant in multiple myeloma with renal failure and also epidemiological study of prevalence of proteinuria and correlative risk factors in the community.
