About Me

Dr. Akhilesh K., currently serves as Associate Professor & Consultant in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi. He has vast experience in the branch of pulmonary medicine with skills in doing interventional procedures like fiberoptic bronchoscopy, bronchoscopic biopsy, medical thoracoscopy, and thoracoscopic biopsy and endobronchial ultrasound.
He is well versed in evaluation and treatment of common pulmonary problems like asthma, allergic disorders, COPD, pleural diseases, tuberculosis and other rare lung diseases like sarcoidosis, interstitial lung diseases and other systemic lung diseases. He is very good in communication skills and oriented towards public health aspects of pulmonary diseases. His areas of interests include tuberculosis, COPD and pulmonary rehabilitation and sleep medicine. He is a member of technical working group in latent TB infection detection and management by Govt of Kerala. He is having 15 publications till date which make him the best pulmonologist with clinical and research skills.

Experience and Achievements

Present Designation: "Associate Professor & Consultant in Pulmonary Medicine. He is also the coordinator of Amrita Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme designed for chronic respiratory diseases and RNTCP Centre for Tuberculosis.
Experience: More than 8 years in the field of Pulmonary Medicine, Recipient of "YOUNG PULMONOLOGIST AWARD - 2019 and YOUNG PULMONOLGIST APPRECIATION AWARD - 2018” which is given to the best young pulmonologists among Kerala. He received this honour as an appreciation for his services and excellence in the branch of Pulmonology, Tuberculosis and Public Health.
