Amrita Cardio Oncology Clinic

The Amrita Cardio-Oncology Clinic at the Amrita Hospital, Kochi, is the first initiative of its kind in India, aiming to deliver contemporary evaluation and treatment strategies to promote cardiovascular health in cancer patients.  

The cardio-oncology service is headed by Dr. Navin Mathew MD DM (Cardiology) and Dr. Hisham Ahamed MD DM (Cardiology). Our Cardio-Oncology Clinic provides treatment plans for various problems which include: 

• Patients who may develop cardiovascular side effects from common chemotherapy regimens including anthracyclines, radiation therapy and novel targeted chemotherapy regimens. 
• Patients with established cardiovascular disease who get diagnosed with cancer face a significant risk of worsening of their cardiovascular health. 
• At the Amrita Cardio-Oncology Clinic, we believe that every cancer patient should not only survive their illness, but they should do so with a healthy cardiovascular status.

National Cardio-Oncology Summit 2017 

On July 30, 2017, the Department of Adult Cardiology and Oncology at Amrita organized the very first National Cardio-Oncology Summit at the Ramada Hotel Kochi, under the aegis of the Canadian Cardio-Oncology Network and the International Cardio-Oncology Society. Dr. Susan Dent (Ottawa), who was the then President of the International Cardio-Oncology Society was the presiding faculty during the summit and the inauguration of the National Cardio-Oncology Society.
