Are you a parent dealing with a hyperactive and impulsive child? Does your child struggle with low self-esteem, troubled relationships, and poor performance at school?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a mental illness affecting the brain of children and often continues into adulthood. These children show signs of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity in specific ways. These children display low self-esteem, have troubled relationships, and report poor performance at school.

Though symptoms lessen with age, some people cannot outgrow the symptoms. However, they learn strategies to overcome the problems.

    • Appear not to listen
    • Difficult to follow instructions
    • Dislike tasks that require mental effort
    • Easily Distracted
    • Excessive talking
    • Fidgeting and Wriggling

    • Losing personal items required for various tasks
    • Make careless mistakes in schoolwork

    Causes / Reasons

The exact cause of ADHD is unclear, and research continues. Genetics, the environment at home, school, and other spaces where children interact, problems with the central nervous system at key moments in development.

    Treatment

As of now, there is no single test used to diagnose ADHD. Diagnosis is generally based on the symptoms shown by the children regularly for more than six months in multiple settings. The information gathered from several sources, including schools, caregivers, and parents is used for diagnosis.

Medicines and behaviour therapy are usually required to control symptoms and help the child to focus.
