
Amrita Hospital, Kochi, in collaboration with Cherthala's "Polima" initiative, successfully organized a Free Medical Camp that offered a wide range of healthcare services across various specialties. The camp, which was held to promote health and well-being in the community, provided free medical consultations and diagnostic tests in General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatrics, Gynecology, Pediatric Cardiology, Orthopedics, Cardiology, ENT, Dentistry, and Ophthalmology.
The event was inaugurated by Agriculture Department Minister P. Prasad, who expressed his support for the initiative. Municipal Chairperson Shirley Bhargavan, Swamini Karunamrita Prana from the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, and other dignitaries, including Amrita Hospital Kochi Administrator Dr. Rehna and General Surgery Professor Dr. C. Sreekumar, were also present at the inauguration. Several representatives from the local municipality and various council conveners participated in the event, contributing to its success.
As part of the camp, several diagnostic services were offered free of charge to the participants, including X-rays, ECGs, echocardiograms, pulmonary function tests, and other laboratory tests. A total of 1,760 individuals benefited from the camp, with 19 echo tests, 113 ECGs, 26 PFTs, 37 X-rays, 44 audiology tests, and 251 blood tests conducted.
The dental team from Amrita Dental College also participated in the camp, providing free dental services to those in need. Thirty-three patients received treatment for damaged teeth, while 19 patients underwent tooth extractions. Additionally, 38 cases of cataracts were identified, and the affected patients were offered free cataract surgeries under the leadership of Camp Administrator M. D. Jayan.
The camp saw the active participation of around 70 doctors and 130 paramedical staff, who worked diligently to provide essential healthcare services to the community.
