Amrita Hospital, Kochi, celebrates Plastic Surgery Week with a series of enlightening events and activities to raise awareness and to showcase advancements in the field. The celebration commenced with a Sushrutha Vandhana at the Maharishi Sushrutha Statue on Monday, July 15, 2024. This homage to the ancient sage was a tribute to the pioneering spirit of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

As part of the week-long celebration, the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has organized an exhibition at the hospital atrium. The exhibition provided detailed explanations of various types of plastic and reconstructive surgeries, including breast reconstruction, liposuction, fillers, PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatments, aesthetic surgery, hand surgery, and more. The display aimed to educate visitors about the wide range of procedures available and their transformative potential.

On July 16, 2024, a presentation was held for the students and staff of Amrita Hospital, Kochi, titled "Plastic Reconstructive Surgery - It is More Than You Think." The session began with an introduction by Dr. Subramania Iyer, Professor and Chairman of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Sundeep Vijayaraghavan, Professor and Head of the Department, spoke about aesthetic surgery, emphasizing its role in enhancing patients' quality of life and self-esteem.

Dr. Jimmy Mathew, Professor, provided insights into reconstructive surgery, highlighting the advancements and techniques used to restore function and appearance after trauma or illness. Dr. Kishore P., Associate Professor, discussed the intricacies of hand surgery, focusing on the precision and expertise required for successful outcomes. The presentation concluded with an engaging quiz session conducted by Dr. Unnikrishnan, and Dr. Sundeep Vijayaraghavan.

The Centre for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Amrita Hospital features a highly experienced team adept at cosmetic, reconstructive, and microsurgical procedures. With a focus on clinical services, the centre offers a comprehensive range of treatments, including various cosmetic surgeries and trauma reconstructions for the legs, feet, and hands.
