
As part of the Aluva Shivaratri celebrations, a free eye check-up camp titled Namonetra 2026 was organized at Manappuram Temple in association with the Department of Ophthalmology, Amrita Hospital, and the Sakshama Ernakulam Chapter.
The camp was inaugurated by Justice Alexander Thomas, Former Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court and Chairman of the Kerala State Human Rights Commission. Justice Murali Purushothaman, Judge of the Kerala High Court, also participated in the function.
The medical team from Amrita Hospital, under the supervision of Dr. Anil Radhakrishnan, Consultant and Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Cornea, conducted free eye examinations and provided guidance for further treatment to attendees. The initiative aimed at offering accessible and timely eye care support to devotees and members of the public gathered for the Shivaratri observances.
During the event, the distinguished guests also honoured differently-abled individuals present at the ceremony, recognizing their resilience and contributions.
Representatives from Sakshama and local civic bodies were also present at the camp, which witnessed active public participation. Through initiatives like Namonetra, Amrita Hospital continues its outreach efforts to strengthen community eye care and promote preventive health awareness.
