Amrita Hospital, Kochi inaugurated the department of Infectious Diseases on July 24th 2024. The department was inaugurated by Dr. Prem Nair, Group Medical Director, Amrita Hospitals. The Pooja was conducted by Swamini Karunamrita Prana, in the presence of distinguished gathering of doctors, staff, and well-wishers. Patients can now directly schedule appointments with the Infectious Diseases Department by calling 0484 2857745. The department service is available from Monday to Saturday at G Block, 5th Floor, Amrita Hospital, Kochi.

The department of Infectious Diseases offer vaccinations and immunizations through our adult immunization clinic to keep you protected. Additionally, they provide expert advice and preventive care consultations for travellers to minimize the risk of infections abroad.

The department also focuses on educating patients and their families about infection prevention practices, empowering them to maintain their health and well-being.

The Infectious Diseases Department at Amrita Hospital, Kochi provides comprehensive and advanced care for diagnosing, treating, and preventing a wide range of infections. Our team of specialists is dedicated to helping patients regain their health and well-being. The department treats a variety of conditions including fever of unknown origin (FUO), infections in immunocompromised hosts, tropical infections, post-implant infections, infections in special populations such as the elderly, pregnant women, and post-transplant patients, multidrug-resistant infections, invasive fungal infections, sexually transmitted infections, and parasitic infections.

In addition to treatment, the department offers a range of preventive ID services. These include an adult vaccination and travel clinic providing routine vaccinations and travel-specific immunizations, surveillance and response planning for emerging infections, a focus on zoonotic diseases through the One Health initiative, comprehensive infection prevention and control strategies, and an antimicrobial stewardship program aimed at ensuring the effective use of antibiotics. The department also offers outpatient antimicrobial therapy.
