In collaboration with Amrita Hospital, Kochi, the ICMR's TeleStroke project has been launched at Kotagiri Medical Fellowship Mission Hospital to bring advanced stroke care to rural areas. The telemedicine system was inaugurated by Dr. Tony Abraham Thomas, Medical Officer of Kotagiri Medical Fellowship Hospital, Dr. Sanjit Aaron, Head of Neurosciences at CMC Vellore, and Dr. Vivek Nambiar, Head of the National TeleStroke Unit at Amrita Hospital, Kochi.

The project aims to provide critical care services to rural, tea estate, and tribal communities, ensuring timely intervention and follow-up care for stroke patients. Over 200 tribal residents attended a three-day medical camp, which included stroke awareness programs for the doctors and medical staffs of the area and thrombolysis stroke clinics. Amrita Hospital’s Ph.D. scholar Ashik Vijayan and Telemedicine System Administrator Rajeesh MVR also participated in the initiative, which extends crucial medical services to underserved regions via telemedicine technology.
