Dr. Riju R. Menon

Dr. Riju R Menon, serves as the Clinical Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Amrita Hospital in Kochi. He joined the institution in 2002 and has been an active faculty in the department. He started the Endovenous Laser surgery program for Varicose veins in 2004 and has treated innumerable people suffering from Varicose veins including ulcers.  He has a keen interest in Endocrine surgery, having performed over 5000 thyroidectomies and over a hundred parathyroidectomies. He is a passionate teacher and is a faculty in the Medical Education Department having completed an advanced course in Medical Education. He is also a long term faculty in the renowned Infection Control Certification program conducted by the Hospital.   

He is well renowned in the state as a Vein specialist and as an authority on wound care and management of venous and diabetic foot ulcers. He also runs a Haemorrhoid’s and fistula clinic with state of the art care including Video assisted fistula treatment and use of cutting edge technology in the treatment of fistula in ano. He has an interest in research and has published over 70 papers in indexed national and international journals and is reviewer in various major international journals. .  He is an Associate Editor  in the Amrita Journal of Medicine, Kerala Surgical Journal and Editorial Board member in various national and international journals. He is an author of over 14 chapters in 3 textbooks on venous surgery, thyroid surgery and medical law.
