Dr. Reema Miria Abraham, Assistant professor, Hematopathology, has been working in providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to patients with both benign and malignant haematological disorders. Having received her training in haematology from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, Dr Reema is one among the only two DM hematopathologists in Kerala. She runs the advanced coagulation laboratory at Amrita. Beyond clinical skills, Dr Reema stands out in her passion and rigorous advocacy for women with bleeding disorders. Her presentation in ASH 2023 highlighted the unmet needs of women with bleeding disorders in resource limited settings. Due to her infectious passion for knowledge and lifelong learning, she is actively involved in a number of research projects. She is also instrumental in the undergraduate, postgraduate and super speciality medical training programmes owing to her exceptional mentorship skills. She is also a core part of the many outreach programmes and academic activities conducted World Federation of Hemophilia twinning program.

 Women with bleeding disorders are often under-recognized and underdiagnosed. Haemophilia in women requires more attention and  early intervention can make a difference.
