Dr. Ginil Kumar Pooleri has been a cornerstone of the Urology and Uro-Oncology services at the Amrita Hospital, Kochi since 2002. With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, he currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Urology. His leadership was instrumental in establishing the institution's specialized Uro-Oncology Department in 2013, distinguishing it as a premier center for oncological excellence. A high-volume surgeon with a portfolio of approximately 2,000 robotic procedures, Dr. Ginil is a recognized innovator in minimally invasive techniques. He pioneered the RASE (Robot-Assisted Supine Extraperitoneal Approach) and remains a national trailblazer in retroperitoneoscopic and extraperitoneal surgeries, having performed several of these complex procedures for the first time in India.
Beyond his clinical mastery, Dr. Ginil has profoundly impacted medical education and research. As the Fellowship Director for the department - Uro-Oncology and Robotic Surgery program - the second accredited program of its kind in India - he has cultivated what is now recognized as the most sought-after fellowship for aspiring sub-specialists in the country. He is a prominent figure in the national medical community, currently serving as the Chairman of the Collaborative Research Committee for the Urological Society of India (USI) and is a Former President of the Association of Southern Urologists (ASU). As one of the founders of the Society of Genito-Urinary Oncology (SOGO), he helped create a vital infrastructure for specialized research. A prolific researcher and National Board and MCh Examiner since 2009, Dr. Ginil has authored 70 publications with over 300 citations, consistently driving the evolution of surgical standards across the region
