A 70-year-old severely obese patient suffering from critical heart valve blockage was successfully treated through a minimally invasive cardiac procedure known as TAVI (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation). According to the treating heart team, conventional open-heart surgery posed a significantly high risk due to the patient’s obesity and overall medical condition. Following a comprehensive evaluation by a multidisciplinary cardiac team, TAVI was selected as the safest and most suitable treatment option.
The procedure was carried out successfully, and the patient showed excellent recovery with marked improvement in symptoms. Medical experts noted that advanced procedures such as TAVI are offering renewed hope to high-risk patients who may not be ideal candidates for traditional open-heart surgery.
The procedure was led by:
- Dr. Ashish Kumar – Consultant, Adult Cardiology
- Dr. Gautam Singhal – Senior Consultant, Adult Cardiology
- Dr. Dheeraj Arora – HOD, Cardiac Anesthesia
With Comprehensive Team of Cardiac Anaesthesia, CTVS doctors and Cath Staff and Technicians of Amrita Hospital, Faridabad.
