Professor Mukul Chandra Kapoor is an accomplished Anesthesiologist with more than 30 years of experience in Anesthesiology. He served in the Armed Forces Medical Services for 27 years and thereafter took premature retirement in 2011. His last rank was Colonel and held the designation of Senior Adviser, Professor and Head of Anaesthesiology and Cardiothoracic Anaesthesiology. He has been a post-graduate teacher for the last 25 years. He was a faculty at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi, and other teaching hospitals of the Armed Forces.
Dr. Kapoor has a passion for teaching and has been driving teaching programs across the country. He has been a PG guide in Anesthesiology for the University of Pune, the University of Delhi, and King George Medical University, Lucknow. He was also a guide for ICMR Senior Research Fellowship. After his retirement from the Armed Forces, he served as the Director Anaesthesiology at Max Healthcare Delhi. He is credited with starting the DNB Anaesthesiology Teaching Program at Max Hospital Vaishali Ghaziabad and Max Smart Hospital, Saket, Delhi. He regularly serves as an examiner for MD (Anesthesiology), DNB (Anesthesiology), DM (Cardiac Anesthesiology), FNB (Cardiac Anesthesiology), and FIACTA.
Dr. Kapoor was the President of the Indian Association of Cardiovascular Thoracic Anaesthesiologists and aslo served as Dean Academics of the Indian College of Cardiac Anaesthesia. He is currently the Chief editor of the famed journal ‘Annals of Cardiac Anaesthesia’ and the very popular ‘Yearbook of Anesthesiology.’ He has earlier served as Chief Editor of the Journal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology. He is a peer reviewer for several international journals. Dr. Kapoor is recognized in the academic field and has written 3 books, 7 chapters in books and has 88 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He is a prolific speaker and is regular faculty at conferences and CMEs in India and abroad. He has delivered the prestigious Chennai Anaesthesia Foundation Oration, the PN Bhatt Oration (IACTA), and the Venkat Rao Oration (ISA). He was conferred the Sushruta Award by Max Healthcare for Excellence in Academics and Publication.
After a long and distinguished career in the Armed Forces and the Corporate Hospitals, Dr Kapoor has joined Amrita Hospitals, Faridabad, Delhi NCR as Chief Consultant, Professor and Head of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care.
Expertise of delivering anaesthesia for the entire range of patients from neonates to adults, from Arterial Switch Surgery to Cardiac Transplant. Skilled in exercising caution in administering anaesthesia to patients with a history of co-morbidities or various heart diseases for non-cardiac surgery. Strong communication skills, analytical ability & capability to work under stress & strenuous conditions.
