The Department of Molecular Biology at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, hosted the soft launch event of “Wellness Genomics” marking a significant step toward integrating genomic science into preventive and personalized healthcare.
“Wellness Genomics” at Amrita Hospital focuses on a wide spectrum of health areas, including nutrigenomics, lifestyle and fitness traits, hormonal imbalances, cardiovascular risk, bone health, Pharmacogenomics, and more. The initiative aims to empower individuals with tailored health solutions based on their unique genetic makeup. From nutrition and fitness to mental well-being and longevity, the Wellness Genomics Program aspires to guide individuals through insights drawn from their own DNA.
The event commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony led by Swami Nijamritananda Puri, Administrative Director, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, alongside Dr. Moushmi Suryavanshi, Senior Consultant & Head (Molecular Biology), and Guest Dr. Julian Wong.
This was followed by an introductory address by Dr. Moushmi Suryavanshi, who is spearheading this pioneering initiative within the department. She outlined an innovative approach to preventive healthcare that leverages DNA testing to deliver personalized insights on diet, fitness, sleep, stress, skin health, and detox pathways. The approach marks a shift from generic wellness plans to gene-based, individualized strategies for long-term health improvement.
The highlight of the launch was a keynote talk by Dr. Julian Wong, Regional Clinical Application Specialist at Thermo Fisher Scientific, Asia Pacific & Japan. He also emphasized the role of Pharmacogenomics (PGx) in personalizing medication based on genetic profiles. His talk demonstrated how precision health can significantly improve outcomes, reduce costs, and support global population health initiatives.
Faculty and staff from various departments including Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Urology, Physiology, Medicine and Surgery attended the event.
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A session, encouraging thoughtful discussion and interaction among the attending faculty and staff.
