The Department of Molecular Biology at Amrita Hospital Faridabad organized a one-day hands-on workshop on “Foundations in Genetics & Genomics” under the guidance of Dr. Moushumi Suryavanshi, Senior Consultant & Head Molecular Biology and Cytogenetics. The workshop offered a comprehensive learning experience, combining theory, practical exercises, and interactive discussions to deepen participants’ understanding of genetics and genomics and their clinical applications.

The day commenced with a prayer invoking Amma’s blessings, followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony. Dr. Sanjiv Singh, Medical Director, emphasized the importance of molecular thinking in advancing diagnostics, patient care, and medical education during his inaugural address.

Participants engaged in sessions covering pedigree analysis, molecular and cytogenetic techniques, and their relevance in understanding genetic disorders. A highlight of the workshop was the “Variant Hunt,” a hands-on bioinformatics exercise allowing attendees to apply genomic data analysis in a practical setting.

The event concluded with expressions of gratitude to the participants and the Molecular Biology team for their dedication, reflecting Amrita Hospital’s ongoing commitment to excellence in education, research, and compassionate science.
