Dr. Sanjay Raina

Dr. Sanjay Raina is a highly experienced senior physician with over 27 years of clinical practice in Internal Medicine, with specialized expertise in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Cardiology, Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, and Neurology. He completed his MBBS from Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur in 1992 and earned his MD in Internal Medicine from R.N.T. Medical College, Udaipur in 1998. Following senior residencies in Medicine and Cardiology, he joined ESIC as a Specialist in Medicine in 2003, where he has since played a pivotal role in expanding and strengthening patient care services.

Dr. Raina has been instrumental in establishing and advancing several key clinical departments within the ESIC system. He set up the Departments of Medicine at ESI Hospitals in Chinchwad (Pune) and Andheri (Mumbai), and during his tenure at ESI-PGIMSR Basaidarapur, Delhi, he established the Diabetic Clinic in 2009 and introduced GI Endoscopy services in 2011 after receiving specialized training at G.B. Pant Hospital, Delhi. He further developed these services into a full-fledged Department of Gastroenterology in 2020, significantly enhancing gastroenterology care within the institution.

In addition to his clinical leadership, Dr. Raina holds advanced qualifications including a distinction in the Postgraduate Program in Diabetology from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (2014), and MRCP (UK) in Internal Medicine (2016) and Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2023). He also completed the Strategic Management in Healthcare Program at IIM Ahmedabad in 2015.

Since October 2022, Dr. Raina has been serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine at Amrita School of Medicine and Hospital, where he continues to lead clinical services while mentoring physicians and contributing to healthcare system development. Known for his diagnostic precision and commitment to patient care, he remains a respected figure in the field of internal medicine and specialty care delivery.
