Dr. Rishabh Kumar

I am a Radiation Oncologist with 8 years of experience in this technology and patient-driven field. I specialize in using advanced forms of radiation to treat cancers of the Brain, Head, and Neck, Breast, Gastrointestinal and Gynaecological regions. Cancer is best treated in a multi-disciplinary setting, I believe it is critical to consult with my medical oncology and surgery colleagues. All of my patients benefit from the combined knowledge of multiple specialists who are dedicated to curing their cancer and resuming their lives. I have received advanced training to deliver high-precision personalized radiation to kill cancer and cause the least amount of side effects.

I completed my Junior Residency in Radiation Oncology at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and was awarded my MD by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore in 2017. During this period I learned about the nuances of Stereotactic Radiotherapy and radiosurgery and advanced image-guided Radiotherapy. I was instrumental in the commissioning of the MRI-guided Brachytherapy for cervical cancer at our institute, and we published India’s second largest data on the same. During this time, we performed the world's first Robotic Liver HDR Brachytherapy and published Indian data on the role of HPV and telomerase in cervical and head and neck cancers respectively. With all this work I was awarded the MC Pant Gold medal by the association of radiation Oncologists in India for the best research in 2016.

In 2017 I was awarded a technology transfer grant by the European society of therapeutic radiology and oncology to learn about Cyberknife-based SRS and SBRT, proton therapy and Hyperthermia at ERASMUS. 

I completed my Senior residency at prestigious institutes like SGPGI Lucknow, and ILBS Delhi and served my longest stint with AIIMS New Delhi. At ILBS Delhi I commissioned the Stereotactic program in ablative radiotherapy. This resulted in one of the largest publications from India in the field of Liver SBRT in patients with Hepatocellular carcinomas. We are well equipped and experienced to tackle the most complex stereotactic treatments in Radiation Oncology.

With the research work conducted at ILBS, I was awarded the best Young Radiation Oncologist award and the GC Pant gold medal at AROICON Ahmedabad 2019.

At AIIMS New Delhi my senior residency provided me exposure to a variety of cases and complex clinical situations. I was also part of Low dose radiation for the COVID 19 trial at AIIMS. I have had hands-on experience in brachytherapy for Breast, Sarcomas, Cervix, prostate, Lung, and Liver cancers along with IGRT SRS and SBRT treatments. I am also part of the breast brachytherapy guidelines by the Indian brachytherapy Society. 

I am now a part of the AMMA family at Amrita Faridabad as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology and will be helping cancer patients to the best of my abilities.
