Dr. Appu Thomas is currently serving as the Professor and Head of the Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. He has worked in Government Medical Colleges including Calicut, Alappuzha, Thrissur and Kottayam and was relieved in 2004 as Professor of Urology and Vice – Principal at Kottayam Medical College.

He is included in the practice of Urology from 1980 onwards under various capacities. He has trained about 40 urologists who work around the world. He has more than 30 publications to his credit in international and national journals.
