     Overview

  • Mr. Prasad VG completed his Post Graduate Diploma as Physician Assistant in 2005 and His Master of Science in Allied Health Sciences- Physician Assistant with core training in Gastro-Intestinal Surgery and Solid Organ Transplantation in 2009. He joined the Department of Gastro-Intestinal Surgery and Solid Organ Transplantation at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences after completing his diploma. His main contribution to the department during his tenure was in the transplant program that was started in the department at that period. His specific contribution include the starting up of the deceased donor program in the region. Apart from his clinical practice, he was involved in 11 multinational clinical trials as the department’s Clinical Research Co-ordinator. He was a member of organizing committee for several national level conferences.
  • He is currently working as Assistant Professor at Amrita School of Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. In addition to his teaching responsibilities he is the Program Co-ordinator of Allied Health Sciences of the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetam University.
  • He is the President of Indian Association of Physician Assistants and an Executive Council Member of Indian Association of Transplant Co-ordinators . He is a member in the “Curriculum Task force Committee” formed by the Government of India for developing the proposed “Allied Health Sciences Council”.
  • In addition to his academic work he is quite active in the social fields, specifically interested in the organ donation awareness programs.
  • He is a sought after speaker for organ donation awareness workshops in Kerala. He works with Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS - Kerala State Government’s project to promote deceased organ donation). He has published many articles in print media and has spoken in visual media to create awareness in the society on organ donation and transplantation.
