Infection Control Certification Programme for Nurses (Distance Education)

Medical advances have brought lifesaving care to patients in need, yet many of those advances come with a risk of hospital and patients at large.

Importance of ICCP

ICCP is an endeavor towards preparation of a group of health care professionals with expertise which is essential for effective implementation of infection control practices across all health care settings. By the infection control certification program, we aim at developing specialized nurses in this field, equipped with adequate knowledge and skill needed for the maintenance of a safe hospital environment and health care delivery practices.


Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences has conducted this certification program since 2011 and has certified 375 Registered Nurses from various parts of India over 21 Batches.

Training Overview

Infection control certification program is a distance education program delivered over a period of 8 weeks with 6 days mandatory contact sessions. There shall be an examination at the end of the course and the final evaluation is based on the completed log book, written exam and viva voce. Contact classes are arranged in two sessions of 3 days each.

Training package:

This includes printed course materials, log book and lectures by experienced resource personnel and field visit during contact programs.

Eligibility for admission

  • Diploma in GNM/Post Basic BSc Nursing/BSc Nursing degree/MSc Nursing Degree
  • Has an active license from any state nursing council in India.
  • Currently working in a hospital where training related activities (Eg. Infection Control audits/surveillance etc) can be performed.

  • Self-attested copy of the qualifying examination (B.Sc Nursing/GNM/Post basic B.Sc Nursing)
  • Self-attested copy of registration certificate

Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, is conducting “CME and Workshop on COPD” on 23rd February 2019 to give new insights and to refresh the current knowledge in COPD management to pulmonologists, general physicians, general practitioners and post graduates. CME is organised as a part of the inauguration of AMRITA PULMONARY REHABILITATION PROGRAMME.

In keeping with the tradition, we are also conducting a PG update programme on 24th February 2019 especially for exam-going PGs. Morning session is for clinical case discussion and in the afternoon, viva voce will be conducted by examiners from all over India.
